The season of the "Black Diamond" runs from November to March - the height of the season being in January.During this period, there are a multitude of markets & other events that take place in Provence & that should not be missed.
The most important "Truffle" event takes place each year in the village on Richerenches on the 3rd Sunday in January when a special Mass is celebrated. The Truffle Mass, devoted to Saint Antoine (patron saint of truffle growers), will take place on Sunday January 15th 2017.
The Mass begins at 10:30am in the tiny village church (a giant screen is installed outside) & ends with a choir. The faithful give truffles as offerings instead of money. The members of the brotherhood then parade in full ceremonial costume, followed by the faithful, to the main square where they auction the truffles donated during the offertory. This ceremony is followed by an aperitif shared by all.
A truly authentic & unique moment that should be experienced by all food & wine lovers.
