They say wine never tastes better than when you are sipping it in the vineyard where it was grown. And if you are a fan of bubbly, the best sparkling wine in the world can be found in the Champagne region of northeast France, where only bottles produced here can legally carry the region’s name.

Today, as it is harvest time in Champagne, the Wine Tour In France team prepared for you a unique way to catch a glimpse of what this marvelous region has best to offer.

We invite you to find out the secret behind that bond – why the world’s most feted wines are so intimately linked to their land of origin: from a 4 wheel exploration of the local soil, through a champagne cellar visit, to end up learning how to pair champagne with fine dishes, we take you on a journey to the heart of Champagne’s heritage.

Discover the terroir

May you be visiting Champagne with your colleagues, family or friends, what better way to uncover the vineyards than criss-crossing it by car?

Two types of vehicles are available: 4x4 or old vintage cars.
By choosing an off-road vehicle, you will visit every corner of the vineyards via many original paths to discover the three great grape varieties for wines and their method of pruning.

On the other hand, you could also choose to combine the pleasure of being on board of a vintage car and pacing up and down the Reims Mountain to uncover its beauties. Sailing among the ocean of vines on a road path suiting for the requirements of the car, you will experience what nature has offered to the champagne area in a very unique classy way!

Champagne cellar tour

Once you know all about the local soil and you understand the various types of grapes, let’s go underground and meet a champagne professional.

Your host will take you through the whole champagne process, making sure you understand the age-old process, why wooden barrels were originally used, and how the champagne bottles were turned by hand. You will also see some of the vintage cellars, with the dates marked stretching back into the last century. Then you will get to taste and appreciate the results of this long and laborious process.

Champagne pairing with gastronomy

Tasting is nice. But what about learning how to match champagne with dishes? You may think champagne is only to be served with appetizer… but not! This is why this journey will take you to a final step: food pairing with champagne.

Joining this class will allow you to bring home with you a little bit of Champagne’s art-de-vivre. Astonish your friends by serving them champagne with main course, cheese or even dessert.
